Vote This Fall--And Don't Worry

Just a few prognostications, purely opinion.

With the President's approval numbers in the tank in all kinds of polls, I would have thought his party might look around for a new candidate in 2012. Obviously one of the most incompetent leaders since James Carter and unquestionably the most secretive, the President would seem to be anything but Landslide Lyndon come November. But it appears that the Democrats who are unhappy with their party's leader have chosen to just stay quiet, even in light of what happened in the Congressional elections of 2010. The singing fundraiser has spent 3 months of his first three years on the golf course when there was so much to be done, like working to decrease regulations that stifle business, like approving the Keystone XL pipeline. He has talked and talked and talked but done little in this arena. (I guess one of those long speeches even put old Charlie Rangel to sleep at his banquet table!) He has sent the national debt into the stratosphere. Alienating the PM of Israel was foolish. Starting back to church in the fourth year of his term looks hypocritical. Refusing to unlock his records, transcripts, and real birth certificate gives rise to all kinds of speculations. Was he really Barry Soetero, registered as a foreign student during his college days at Occidental and beyond? Does he really qualify as a natural born citizen of the USA? A simple release of documents that is normal for candidates for President would squash all the theories, speculations, questions, and mystery. It strikes me as non-sensical to give your opponents ammunition when your own position seems so vulnerable.

Nevertheless, can this man be reelected in November of this year? Sure, he can. Citizens of this once great land gave us two terms of W.J. Clinton and almost gave us an Al Gore. They gave us Barack Obama with the barest of details on this man's life and political record.

But there may be something else in play as we look to the fall. Could it be that BHO was a wake-up call from God? Do we really want a failed socialism in this country that makes us like Europe? Do we really want class warfare as a major issue in our culture and life? Is there a Sodom and Gomorrah in our future? I think there is a 50/50 chance that the people of the country will come to their senses and send this man back to Chicago and Illinois. But what if they don't?

Well, consider another perspective. We know from our conservative theology in the field of eschatology that one day the Lord Jesus will return as the Messiah for Israel. She will be surrounded by enemies, standing alone in desperate straits. Russia, a long staunch ally of Syria, is in the picture on the north, China may be on the east, but there is no inkling in Bible prophecy of the United States. Sometime between now and then, the US departs from its longstanding support of the Jewish nation. Could that change of stance be happening even now? Can our leaders be moving us from the promise that God will bless those who bless the Chosen People? I would hate to see it, more for my children's sake than mine, but it needs to happen before the Lord Jesus can return.

So, what me worry? The election this fall is MORE a referendum on the citizens of this country than it is on the candidates who win their parties' nominations. If we have reached the bread and circuses of late Rome, there is a silver lining. The end is not too far away. If we come back to our foundations and roots, there is hope that we can enjoy more years of liberty and freedom.

Stay tuned.
